Police are searching for an arsonist who was caught on video setting fire to an SUV in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood.

The incident happened on Friday, Oct. 30, around 1 a.m. along the 2500 bock of Trenton Avenue. Video obtained by NBC10 shows the unidentified person walking up to a Toyota RAV4, putting something on the hood, setting it on fire and then riding away on a bike.

“The video was really disturbing for me to watch,” Kara Moy, the owner of the SUV, told NBC10.

Moy said the arsonist targeted her vehicle twice as it was parked outside her home.

“He rode up about 12:53 a.m. and he tried to start a fire on the hood of my car and it didn’t catch,” she said. “He came back 10 minutes later and started it again and it did catch.”

Firefighters responded to the scene and put out the fire. But by then, Moy’s vehicle was destroyed. While Moy said she’s thankful she didn’t have anything of extreme importance inside her vehicle, she’s still disturbed by what happened and is unsure of who would want to target her.

“The police and fire marshals were asking me about ex-boyfriends or if I had been in any fights recently,” Moy said. “But I genuinely can’t think of anyone that would do this to me.”

If you have any information on the arsonist, call Philadelphia police.
