(KRON) -- The Oakland Police Officers Association said its building was targeted by a burglar, according to a spokesperson.
The OPOA building is located at 555 5th St. in Oakland.
The OPOA said the male suspect was searching for cash and eventually stole money from an office cabinet.
"No files of information were impacted by the break-in and theft. OPOA files are secured and locked and were not accessible to the thief," the OPOA said in a statement to KRON4.
The suspect was captured by police nearby while attempting another burglary, the OPOA said.
"This demonstrates, sadly, that no one, not even police officers, is immune to ongoing crime in Oakland," added OPOA spokesperson Sam Singer.
