Cowley College is reporting its strongest enrollment in five years, with fall enrollment increasing 2.56% over last year and total credit hours increasing 2.15%.
The college’s fall 20th-day enrollment report shows 2,363 students enrolled, representing a 2.56% increase in headcount from the previous fall. The college recorded 25,301 credit hours, a 2.15% increase. Full-time equivalent enrollment increased 2.10% to 1,687.
The 20th-day enrollment report is used by the Kansas Board of Regents to track enrollment trends among Kansas higher education institutions. The report counts students who have enrolled and started classes by the 20th day of the fall semester and does not include students who began classes after Sept. 15.
Cowley’s 2.56% increase in enrollment ranks third among Kansas community colleges and fifth among all two-year institutions.
Cowley College President Dr. Michelle Schoon said the enrollment numbers reflect the efforts of the entire college and the communities it serves.
“These numbers are the highest 20th day enrollment since 2021, and it takes an entire college to make numbers like these happen,” Schoon said. “Our faculty and staff, our students, and our communities all play an important role in Cowley’s success. I am continually amazed by the dedication and support that make these results possible.”
For students in Sumner County, Cowley’s Sumner Campus in Wellington provides access to college coursework and career training close to home. The campus offers general education and transfer courses, along with programs in agriculture, manufacturing, computer science and information technology, as well as Cowley’s Paramedic and EMS training.
