AMUTY is a Korean beauty app that offers selected participants the opportunity to test full-sized products for only $1, with free shipping. Participants share their experiences through four weekly reviews and one social media post with a photo of the product.
The U.S. program follows 400 successful campaigns and 300,000 participants in South Korea. Selected participants pay $1 upfront, with no additional shipping costs or fees. They submit one review per week for four weeks in the AMUTY app and share one social media post with a photo of the product.
After completing these requirements, they receive $1 worth of AMUTY Points. The points can be used toward future trials or group purchases through AMUTY. They are not a cash refund. Applying for a campaign does not guarantee selection.
Product reviews can help consumers understand what to expect before purchasing cosmetics. Because individual preferences and experiences vary, honest feedback helps readers understand how a product worked for the person reviewing it.
AMUTY encourages participants to share both positive and negative experiences. Reviews can cover a product’s texture, how it fits into a skincare routine, whether it meets expectations, and what participants liked or disliked.
“We do not ask participants to write only positive reviews,” Robert, AMUTY’s CEO, said. “A negative review can be useful when it explains what did not work and how the experience changed over time.”
Participants are required to disclose that their products were provided by AMUTY. AMUTY does not influence the content or opinions expressed in their reviews.
A brief in-store test at a retailer such as Sephora or Ulta offers only a first impression. AMUTY’s four-week trial period gives participants time to use products as part of their regular routines. Weekly reviews provide a consistent way to collect feedback and track changes in participants’ experiences over time.
AMUTY’s model gives consumers a way to try full-size products for a $1 upfront payment, while brands receive feedback from consumers in international markets. Feedback from consumers in different markets can help cosmetics brands understand customer preferences. AMUTY connects overseas consumers with Korean beauty products and collects their feedback through its platform.
AMUTY specializes in exporting Korean cosmetics to approximately 80 countries, with exports valued at $70 million. Its product trial platform connects Korean beauty brands with U.S. consumers and helps consumers discover products through direct experience.
